Who is Marcelito Pomoy?

I sit in front of the computer a lot and rarely watch TV, but yesterday was a Sunday so I was taking a breather. I happened to watch the awarding of the grand finals of Pilipinas Got Talent (live from Araneta Coliseum).

marcelitopomoy 150x150 Marcelito Pomoy wins Pilipinas Got Talent Finals. Was It Just Luck?

Marcelito Pomoy from Cavite emerged as the grand winner.  His talent?  Singing… with a male and a female voice!  (See Marcelito’s performance at the end of this post.)

He was awarded with a P2 Million check (and a lot more).  Someone commented, “Ang swerte naman ni Marcelito! (Marcelito is very lucky indeed!)”

I’m pretty sure that if you ask Marcelito how he prepared for this contest, he would say that he practiced a lot of times… for the grand finals, semi finals, audition, screening, etc.

Heck, I wouldn’t be surprised if he says that he’s been practicing for years for an opportunity like Pilipinas Got Talent.

Many people would call his winning “LUCK,” but I think it’s not luck that makes people succeed.  If you study success stories like Marcelito’s, you will see that luck happens when Opportunity meets Preparation.

Millions of people miss opportunities that are right in front of them.  Why?  People don’t see or grab opportunities because they are not prepared for those opportunities.

For example, if you dream of becoming a singer, Pilipinas Got Talent is a great opportunity to showcase that talent.  So, why weren’t you up there?

You weren’t prepared, right?  Preparation did not meet the opportunity so you had no “luck.”

So, how does one prepare for an opportunity?  Simple.  In this case, you practice singing, hours and hours of practice, and when an opportunity comes along, grab it.

Not a singer?  No problem.

Whether you are a driver or doctor, you have an opportunity right in front of you. You may not just recognize opportunities because again, you are not prepared to see it.

When you see a rock, how do you know that it’s not a diamond if you have no knowledge about diamonds?

When it comes to real estate, how do you spot a good property investment from a bad one if you have no knowledge about real estate?

When it comes to money, how would you know how to grow it if you have no knowledge about investing or business?

You can say opportunity is NOWHERE, but I say opportunity is NOW HERE!

Opportunity is right where you are, whatever field you’re in.  You just have to prepare yourself to see it.

Acquire the KNOWLEDGE.  LEARN about your field of interest.  EDUCATE yourself and then PRACTICE.  The more knowledge and experience you have, the better prepared you are to see opportunities within that field.

Learn about the market, the industry, competitors, customers, etc.  The more you know, the better prepared you are.  The better prepared you are, the more opportunities you will find to become even better.

Best of LUCK! Oops!  Let’s create our own luck like Marcelito did!

Congrats, Marcelito!
